QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 8 years of software development experience with 5 of those years spent designing and developing software solutions applications.

Experience architecting scalable database solutions on Microsoft SQL Server is an asset.

Strong integration design and development, UI design and development experience

Strong problem solving skills

Previous experience working onsite at a customer location in a consulting capacity

Experience in conducting development activities using stringent source code control procedures.

Minimum of 4 years of project development / methodologies experience: full system development lifecycle, Agile, etc.

Possess advanced written and oral communication skills for producing software design specifications and conducting JAD sessions with customers.

Experienced in developing and documenting use cases desired.

Willing and able to travel to customer sites up to 50% of the time.

The successful candidate will join our client’s Information Services (IS) Career Centre, which supplies skilled practitioners to our organization. These site-specific centres of excellence focus on five Information Technology disciplines. This position will manage practitioners from the Systems Architects discipline.

The functional roles of the Career Centres are to provide resource management and professional development services to all internal IS Division business areas and programs. As well as, develop and maintain IS best practices as part of the application delivery process within each of the business sites.

Position Summary:
The Resource Manager, is responsible for the resourcing, development and performance management of Systems Architect practitioners. In addition, the incumbent will lead the development and application of best practices for the discipline. The Manager, Systems Architect works with the Systems Architect practitioners as well as Delivery Leaders to balance and achieve the needs of both the practitioners and the IS Division.

Accountabilities:
• Manages staffing, resourcing, coaching, individual career /professional development and workforce planning based on the business plan
• Contributes to the development and management of the Systems Architect department (including strategic planning, operational expense management, and skills development within the discipline)
• Executes the performance management and compensation processes within the SA department to ensure results (includes performance appraisals, reward and recognition, salary management, promotion)
• Ensures best practice, process and methodology development, deployment and application
• Mentors and coaches in Systems Architect discipline to develop future leaders
• Manages external vendor contracts to ensure high quality resources to augment resourcing requirements
• Develops strategy and executes action plans for meeting current and future business needs
• Supports the development and management of the SA department
• Participates in the IS Leadership Team to provide leadership across the division

Qualifications and Competencies:
• Post secondary degree or diploma (Computer Science, Business, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
